Rest In Peace Monica “Nika Dala” Nguyen

Rest In Peace Monica “Nika Dala” Nguyen

I’ve been in contact with Monica “Nika Dala” Nguyen quite a bit over the last few years. She came to visit me briefly at my new home in Brooklyn this year. We talked about striving to go the natural route to heal her (of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma) via my mentor Syar Dali (he is one of the best to ever do it). The thing is, there was a lot on Nika Dala’s plate because she battled cancer before, years ago, so trying a natural route did not materialize with the time we had available to us. Her condition was serious and I believe she shared, where the lymphoma spread to was effecting her lungs/heart area. I tried so hard for that route and explained that whatever the doctors did with her years ago didn’t heal her, because cancer came back and spread. That is a huge problem that I have with Western medicine. Chemotherapy kills cells, both good cells and cancerous cells, but on a cellular, molecular level, the chemo does not “heal” cells. Nika Dala totally agreed but felt that she just didn’t have enough time. I cannot imagine what it was that she was going through internally and in her mind.

😔 I am gently devastated, to say the least, to wake up to the news that she had passed. I totally give thanks to Angel for posting about it. When I toured Toronto, Canada a few summers ago to rap during NXNE, Monica was insanely selfless to tag along & supported me during my tour all day and all evening long. She’s a trooper. I am sad because she was really supportive of the people she loved yo. All she wanted to do was move, she’d say while laughing, to a remote island with lots of sunlight, fresh food, and lock in the studio. I was convincing her to get the Kaotica eyeball and she was totally about to get one after hearing that I saw it in Dr. Dre‘s studio and after seeing that The Game posted it in 1 of his Instagram stories. She loves The Game and was totally sold on getting it soon! That’s all she kept saying in our convos this year. She just wanted to record.

Monica I will miss u.

I met you first on Hasan Salaam’s bday as we celebrated at Fat Cat alongside Majesty. I brought Fujii-san with me too. We played pool and had mad fun. EndOf TheWeak / EOW Toronto is the reason we all connected. It is mindblowing that both you and Majesty are no longer here. It was a fun time back then. Hasan thx for introducing us.

Love and light sis. You will be missed for sure.
Rest In Peace “Monica ‘Nika Dala’ Smash 🥊”
