I LITERALLY watched my boy Mez work hard as hell and get behind someone that I actually did not like for such a LONG time.. J. Cole was AITE.. I always felt like Mez and all the homies I grinded with in the streets were just doper… Now let’s think about it for a second. Mez…arguably is NASTIER on the mic then J. Cole and humbly fell back to his second skill of engineering in order to boost Cole up and give him a better shot at catching momentum to level up…
Humility. Do you understand what that means? You cannot LOSE in life with people around you like that…thus.. J. Cole is winning. So then like I finally heard some J. Cole… Young Simba… 2012 (which J. Cole produced and it was mindblowing production) and then 2014 FHD. The message was authentic..it wasn’t meant to be perfect.. just perfectly authentic.. It is undeniable that he is mastering his craft.. you can hear it… I couldn’t deny it anymore…not that I was hating at first either…I just needed to hear more that resonated with me…and 2014FHD totally hit the mark
When it came to scale… he ended up on Letterman and what song did he perform…do you remember? Let’s remind you guys…

A LOT of Rap is rhetorical.. A Lot of beats.. and music production hasn’t evolved.. it’s slightly boring… When listening to Bjork and Beck records is more interesting then 80% of Rap records there’s an issue.. You never know what you will get from an artists… RAP is an art form… PUSH YOURSELVES… You wouldn’t say sh*t about artists you know that would get at you… at least not in public… and I’ve seen goonie ass MCs back niggas down for talking shit.
