Description

United States Cultural Ambassador of Hip Hop, music producer, MC, activist and visual artist MeccaGodZilla (fka ADUM⁷) releases a second instrumental LP titled ”Ephemeral.

Ephemeral is MeccaGodZilla’s follow up to “The Prototype” instrumental album sharing sonically how NYC boom-bap music navigates and springboards off the elements trap, lofi and soulful, acoustic music. Cooked up with akai’s mpk49 and Reason 10 by Propellerhead, the album itself is a telling conversation of how delicate and transient human existence truly is.

According to MeccaGodZilla, “Ephemeral is my newest album.  As you all know, I released another album last week titled “The Prototype.”   I’ve been going through a ton in life outside of music. The experiences continue to remind me of how precious and delicate our human existence is. Literally like wings of the butterfly. The element of air is handled so gracefully but the butterfly can easily be broken. It’s insanely fragile when you think of it however its navigation throughout the dangers of the animal kingdom is how it truly survives – and when it does survive, with all of this grace and beauty intact, that indeed, is magical to say the least.  I don’t really cry about anything anymore. Not at funerals, (RIP Carnage, Majesty, Monica, and countless others), I don’t really cry over relationships, I don’t cry about anything. Ephemeral, I think, is how my tears sound and you will hear that on the title song “Give Me A Reason.

Ephemeral is just a gentle reminder that our existence is short – I have evolved past a lot of things, especially the systems that are money-driven. The only currency I have grown to truly appreciate, wholeheartedly, is the currency and quality of “human exchange.”  That exchange happens through art, conversations, going out with a friend, spending quality time with a pet or elder relative and of course, lots more. Now, I personally do not want to say that human exchange should ever be commodified… but I’m hyper-aware, as technology continues to evolve and human beings become more and more predictable based on how we are being fed a ton of programming from corporate, that there will be a day when we aren’t even feeling emotions anymore.  We will be super desensitized due to our intake of all of the environmental stimuli – no thanks to our “smartphones” which are indeed key in stripping us of essential, basic, human functions (Yes, your phone will take a shit for you one day lol j/k). With that said, people in the future will pay hourly for a human experience – to actually feel love and some sort of connection. This album, Ephemeral is a reminder of that idea… that life is very delicate and while it is here, like the butterflies that are taking flight for the first time, we need to slow down and just enjoy the vibration of life itself.  The bonus would be if we can actually slow down to love each other.  For me right now, nothing else matters to me much these days, besides learning from nature, being fully self-expressed and enjoying the quality of human exchange.  Please enjoy, share the music with friends and family.”

The 14 song album touches quite a few genres ranging from Hip-Hop to trap and experimental music.
