FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 26, 2024 – New York, NY – Hip Hop artist MeccaGodZilla proudly announces the release of his latest track, “Hop Wei,” a powerful collaboration featuring Cryptik Soul and Masia One. This raw and energetic boom bap anthem pays homage to resilience, unity, and the enduring spirit of the underdog, drawing inspiration from the acclaimed TV series Warrior.
Produced by MeccaGodZilla, “Hop Wei” unites the talents of Cryptik Soul, a versatile producer and rapper renowned for his intense horrorcore rap style, and Masia One, the Singapore-born, Canada-raised artist celebrated for her genre-blending sound and fierce lyricism. Together, they craft a track that embodies the tenacity and unbreakable spirit of those who, like the Hop Wei Tong depicted in Warrior, forge their own path and are not to be underestimated.
Originally envisioned for the Warrior TV series, “Hop Wei” also cleverly references the “Hop Way” style of Chinese vampires, known as Jiangshi (僵尸), who hop in pursuit of their victims. “Both Cryptik Soul and I are huge horror movie fans. I’ve never met anyone who could one-up me on horror films, but Cryptik knows the genre well. It was fun to weave our shared love for horror into this song,” adds MeccaGodZilla.
Though not selected for the series, the track stands as a tribute to the fierce spirit of the Hop Wei Tong and the legendary tales brought to life in Warrior.
“Hop Wei” is the fourth single from the Hidden Jewels of Mecca compilation album.
